Join other families and their furry friends as they participate in the 35th Annual Thanksgiving Day 5K Run & Family Stroll presented by T-Mobile.

This race benefits the Kansas City Sports Commission & Foundation and WIN for KC. 100% of the proceeds generated will fund our mission of making a better Kansas City through sports by attracting major events such as the 2023 NFL Draft and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Charitable donations

The mission of Operation Breakthrough is to provide a safe, loving and educational environment for children in poverty and to empower their families through advocacy, emergency aid and education.

Operation Breakthrough surrounds 700 of the city’s most vulnerable children and their families with opportunities – to learn, connect, be nurtured and prepare for success. The program runs cradle to career, helping little children become school-ready, helping school-agers stay on track and offering teens real-world experiences in digital electronics, graphic design and more. The average OB family lives on about $1,000 a month, so OB adds on-site health care, therapy, parenting classes and financial literacy. OB empowers people to breakthrough to a bright future! 

Along with financial contributions, the Kansas City Sports Commission will also be collecting items on behalf of Operation Breakthrough at packet pick up and on race day. We’re seeking items that are used to help families meet the basic needs for food, hygiene items, children's books, and gently used children's clothing.
