WIN for KC Manager

Mission:   

The Women’s Intersport Network for Kansas City (WIN for KC), advocates and promotes the lifetime value of sports, fitness and wellness, while providing opportunities for participation and for leadership development.  Our mission is to improve the health, confidence and leadership skills of girls and women in our community.  WIN for KC was established in 1994 as a division of the Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation.    

  

Job Description:   

The Manager, WIN for KC reports directly to the Director, WIN for KC. This person’s primary responsibility is supporting and assisting in all WIN for KC initiatives. They are responsible for event details and assisting the director with creating new ideas and participation opportunities as per the mission.    

Overview

The individual must have experience in event planning, event logistics, and program management.  This individual should be highly detailed, goal oriented, self-motivated and organized. They should also be able to work in both a team setting as well as working independently on projects.  Further, this position requires good verbal and written communication skills.  

Job duties

  • Consistently work to ensure that event and programmatic execution is in alignment with the strategic direction, goals and objectives for WIN for KC including annual budgeting, strategic planning and goal setting.  

  • Assist with planning and execution of WIN for KC Women’s Sports Awards Celebration luncheon including:  

  • Assist with booking and serving as liaison with event venues  

  • Coordinate steering committee meetings including developing agenda, ensuring minutes are captured and communicated to committee  

  • Promote and solicit award nominations, correspond with award winners before and after luncheon, and finalize logistics for award winners in collaboration with Marketing Team  

  • Collaborate with Marketing department to update WIN website with all event details  

  • Plan and execute the high school March of State Champions  

  • Execute other responsibilities as assigned  

  • Lead WIN Youth Advisory Board initiative including soliciting nominations, coordinating selection process, strategically planning program and activities, regular communication, managing meetings and keeping updated database of current and prior members  

  • Direct Reading & Fitness Challenge program including all marketing, solicitation, registration, planning and logistics    

  • Assist in planning and execution of Camp WIN including leading all elements necessary for Team Captain solicitation, implementation of overall schedule, volunteer management, securing coaches and instructors and facility management  

  • Lead the Evelyn Gates Volleyball Award program including nominations, voting, marketing and ceremony  

  • Support planning and execution of any other WIN events including WIN community events, clinics, and programs  

  • Update project task lists and timelines annually and per event  

  • Update WIN database and work with team members to ensure database integrity  

  • Assist with Big 12 Women’s Basketball Tournament as needed  

  • Support  Sports Commission events as necessary and needed  

Qualifications:

  • Event Planning & Logistics: Strong experience in coordinating events, managing logistics, and working with venues.  

  • Program Management: Ability to oversee initiatives such as youth programs, advisory boards, and community outreach efforts.  

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication for committee meetings, awards coordination, and marketing collaboration.  

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines efficiently.  

  • Team Collaboration & Leadership: Experience working both independently and in a team setting, as well as leading volunteers or advisory boards.  

  • Database Management: Experience with maintaining participant and volunteer databases, ensuring data accuracy.  

  • Sports & Community Engagement: Passion for sports, fitness, and leadership development for women and girls.
